Welcome to the Fsuremixf14 Wiki[]

This wiki serves as a space in which FSU First-Year Composition students showcase their encyclopedia-style articles on genre.

Genre[]

Genres, broadly conceived, are 'typical forms of texts which link kinds of producer, consumer, topic, medium, manner and occasion."[1] We can see them as categories of texts that facilitate both interpretation and creation through each genre's unique set of conventions. We become familiar with these genres and their conventions through repeated exposure to a wide variety of genres and texts within genres. Conceived as a database of sorts, this wiki is intended to generate projects that analyze genre and the creation of new texts within genres; an author can go to an article within this resource and come away with a set of guidelines for the type of texts they wish to create.
